BINTA Statue Building
BINTA means the "Buddhist Institute of Tibetan Art" and is located in the Buddhist Center in Braunschweig.
Since 2006 in Braunschweig the knowledge of clay statue building has been passed on to Western students by recognized master statue builders.
In October 2015, Lama Ole Nydahl gave permission to build statues for the Diamond Way Buddhist centers and asked his students to organize a school to learn how to produce statues.
Statues and thangkas (scroll paintings) are inseparable from Tibetan Buddhism. The various Buddha-forms are helpful in bringing the Buddha-aspects into mind during meditation. They cause feedback resp. experiences in our mind.
In order for statues and thangkas to be effective, they must be made according to established standards and as the attributes are described in the meditation instructions. Experienced masters are required for this transmission.
